The Paris tournament is the biggest go competition in Europe after the European congress: 280 participants took part in the 2003 edition. It is the final tournament of the Toyota Pandanet European Go Tour, a 12-tournament circuit which awards substantial prizes to the strongest players.
The Paris 2004 go tournament is open to all European members of a go club, and to
players of all levels. Like every year, several events will be held along with the 6 round main tournament, such as the lightning tournament and a team ranking. Many prizes will be handed out, in money or otherwise, notably to people with at least 4 wins in the main tournament.
The tournament will be held in the superb city hall of Paris' 13th arrondissement (district): stronger players will play in the "salle des mariages" (wedding hall), whereas others will be hosted in the "salle des fêtes" (banquet hall). The traditional sunday evening party will take place nearby, along with the lightning tournament playoffs.
The 2004 Paris Go Tournament is organised by the Aligre (Paris 12) go club, under the patronage of the french go federation, with a number of volunteers helping out.
